Earlier this month, Borussia Mönchengladbach announced that Thorgan Hazard is set to leave the club this summer after he turned down the chance to extend his contract which runs until 2020.

The Belgian winger has been heavily linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, and Axel Witsel would be happy to see his Belgian compatriot join him at Signal Iduna Park.

"We're friends, yet he hasn't revealed anything special to me yet. I like his club, Gladbach, but Thorgan now wants to make the next move in his career, and he has the quality to do so. I would be happy if we get to play together soon, of course," Witsel told Bild.

Witsel joined Borussia Dortmund from Chinese side Tianjin Tianhai (formerly known as Tianjin Quanjian) last summer.
