French defender Abdou Diallo, 22, is said to be nearing a move from Mainz to Borussia Dortmund. The Frenchman traveled to Dortmund this morning to discuss a possible move to the club, RMC Sport understands.

Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon has also been linked with the young defender, but according to RMC Sport he already made a verbal agreement with Dortmund coach Lucien Favre a few weeks ago.

However, the transfer fee has been a stumbling block in the negotiations between Dortmund and Mainz. But, apparently, the two sides have now agreed on a fee around €25 million which means that Diallo now just has to agree a contract with Dortmund to finalise the transfer.

Diallo made 30 appearances and scored three goals for Mainz during the 2017/18 season. The central defender joined the club from Monaco for €5 million last summer.
