Renato Sanches has left Bayern München to join Lille, the German champions have announced.

The Portuguese midfielder, who joined Bayern from Benfica in 2016, has penned a five-year deal with the French Ligue 1 side.

"Renato Sanches has asked us for the transfer, because he wanted to join a club where he can play regularly. Unfortunately, we couldn't guarantee that at FC Bayern. Match practice is important for him, because he wants to be part of Portugal's national team for Euro 2020," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Bayern's website.

"I would like to thank Renato for his achievements and wish him all the best for the future on behalf of FC Bayern," he added.

According to Sky, Lille have paid €20 million plus bonuses to bring the 22-year-old to France.

In total, Sanches made 53 appearances for Bayern with two goals and three assists to his name.
