Arjen Robben waxes lyrical about Thomas Müller and says his importance for Bayern München shouldn't be underestimated.

Following Philippe Coutinho's arrival at Allianz Arena, some have called for the Brazilian international to replace Thomas Müller in Bayern's ideal line-up.

However, according to Robben, Müller should be one of the first names on Bayern's teamsheet.

"I'm a big fan of Müller. He has qualities that nobody else has. He is a team player. He runs into spaces. He has always been an important player for me. He was outstanding in the second half of last season," Robben told Sky and added:

"Sure, a new star has arrived, but the players who were already there have qualities as well. Even if he doesn't always attract attention, he's important, because he opens up gaps. For me, he should always be in the starting eleven.

"He goes deep and runs in behind. That makes it difficult for the opponent. Bayern always play against teams that defend deep. Therefore, you need a lot of movement," the 35-year-old said.

Robben hung up his boots after his contract with Bayern expired at the end of last season.
