Here are our Fantasy Bundesliga tips for Matchday 5.
In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the most obvious premium options such as Jadon Sancho, Timo Werner and Robert Lewandowski. Instead, we will take a look at the players who could offer great value as differentials for Matchday 5.
Goalkeepers:
Zack Steffen (Fortuna Düsseldorf, 7.6M) remains a great value-for-money option, having collected 39 Fantasy points until now. If you're looking for a cheaper option, you may want to bring in Pavao Pervan (Wolfsburg, 1.6M) who is expected to continue in goal for Wolfsburg for at least a few more games while Koen Casteels is sidelined with an injury.
Defenders:
Hertha BSC sit rock bottom of the Bundesliga after a horrible start to the season, but with tasty fixtures against Paderborn (H), Köln (A) and Fortuna Düsseldorf (H) coming up, it may be worth bringing in a few players from the capital side. Dedryck Boyata (Hertha BSC, 6.5M) and Lukas Klünter (Hertha BSC, 6.5M), who is expected to be back in the line-up, are cheap options in defence. If you have a little more to spend, it might be worth taking a punt on Marvin Plattenhardt (Hertha BSC, 8.9M) who is known for his offensive contributions and good set-pieces.
Jonjoe Kenny (Schalke 04, 8.5M) and Bastian Oczipka (Schalke 04, 10.5M) remain solid picks after Schalke's crushing 5-1 win over Paderborn last week.
Jonathan Schmid (Freiburg, 10M) and Christian Günter (Freiburg, 11M) have looked very solid this season, and it might not be too late to bring in one of them, with Freiburg facing Augsburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf in their upcoming games.
Gladbach have a nice run of fixtures coming up, and Stefan Lainer (Gladbach, 10.7M) looks like a solid pick, provided 'Die Fohlen' can bounce back from Thursday's poor 0-4 defeat to Austrian side Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League.
If you're willing to spend a little more, Jerome Roussillon (Wolfsburg, 12.5M) remains an excellent pick.
Midfielders:
Priced at just 7.6 million, Marius Wolf (Hertha BSC, 7.6M) could be a great differential. Marko Grujic (Hertha BSC, 11.2M) is another good option from Hertha, having scored two of his side's three Bundesliga goals this season until now.
Meanwhile, Amine Harit (Schalke 04, 8.2M) and Josip Brekalo (Wolfsburg, 8.7M) are both on a roll and both offer great value for money at the moment.
Vincenzo Grifo (Freiburg, 10.7M) looks set to make his first start for Freiburg following his return from Hoffenheim, and it may be worth taking a punt on the midfielder with a home game against Augsburg coming up.
Looking at the slightly more expensive options, you could go for Karim Bellarabi (Bayer Leverkusen, 11.6M) or Marcel Sabitzer (RB Leipzig, 12.7M).
Strikers:
Ahmed Kutucu (Schalke 04, 7.9M) could be a nice differential if he's in the line-up for Schalke against Mainz on Friday evening. Mark Uth (Schalke 04, 9.7M), who was praised heavily by Schalke coach David Wagner last week, wouldn't be a bad pick either if he starts.
With Leon Bailey ruled out for about a month, it may be worth looking at Lucas Alario (Leverkusen, 10M), although it isn't certain he will start against Union Berlin. If you want a safe starter, you could go for Kevin Volland (Leverkusen, 14.6M) instead.
Breel Embolo (Gladbach, 11.3M) and Alassane Pléa (Gladbach, 13.1M) have both looked quite promising from the start of the season, and with Gladbach's nice run of fixtures, it may be worth bringing in one of them.
Wout Weghorst (Wolfsburg, 14.3M) remains a solid pick after scoring three goals in four games for a Wolfsburg team that have been quite impressive so far.
