Lucien Favre comments on Dortmund's reported interest in Mario Mandzukic

BVB coach Lucien Favre has described Mario Mandzukic as 'a very good player' amid speculation that a move to Signal Iduna Park could be on the cards for the 33-year-old.
Borussia Dortmund coach Lucien Favre has reacted to speculation that the club could bring in Mario Mandzukic from Juventus in January.

"Three or four years ago, this question wouldn't have arisen. He's a very good player. He's 33 years old now, and you shouldn't forget that when you take today's valuations and sums into consideration," Favre told Bild.

Asked if Dortmund will be looking to bring in a striker during the winter transfer window, Favre refused to rule out anything.

"As [Borussia Dortmund sporting director] Michael Zorc has already pointed out, we'll do an analysis in the winter. And should we come to the conclusion that we need a striker, we'll certainly try to do something about it."

Mandzukic is yet to make an appearance for Juventus this season.
