Bayern München star James Rodriguez has sent signals that he is open to a return to Real Madrid, Marca understands.

James Rodriguez didn't have a good relationship with the former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, but according to Marca the new coach Julen Lopetegui believes that James 'is a more than a profitable player and that he could perform at Madrid'.

The Colombian international is currently on loan at Bayern München until next summer with the German champions holding a purchase option of €42 million.

Bayern have already indicated an interest in making use of the purchase option, and according to Sport Bild that is still the case.

That means that if Rodriguez indeed wants to make the switch back to the Spanish capital next summer, Real Madrid will have to negotiate an agreement with Bayern.

Rodriguez, 27, played 39 matches for Bayern last season, scored eight goals and made 14 assists.
