Javi Martinez will be out for for a while after suffering an injury on Saturday, Bayern München have announced.

The 31-year-old is set for a spell on the sidelines after he was forced off with a muscle injury shortly before the break in Bayern's 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg..

"Javi will be unavailable for at least six weeks, it's a major muscle injury. It's very bitter," Bayern coach Hansi Flick said in an interview on the club's website.

The injury means that Martinez will not be able to participate in Bayern's training camp in Doha and that he will most likely miss the Bavarians' first Bundesliga game of 2020 against Hertha BSC on January 19.
