Daniel Caligiuri will be out of action for the weeks to come due to an injury, Schalke 04 have announced.

The 32-year-old is set to be sidelined for around eight weeks after partially rupturing a ligament in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Hertha BSC in the DFB-Pokal.

Caligiuri joins an injury list which already contains the likes of Salif Sané, Jonjoe Kenny, Markus Schubert and Benjamin Stambouli.

He has made a total of 22 appearances for Schalke this season, racking up three goals and four assists.
