Mainz boss: 'Gbamin is not on the market!'
Jean-Philippe Gbamin is not for sale, Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder has said.
"Jean-Philippe is not on the market! We too have certain ambitions, and he is a stable pillar in our plans for the new season. There are no ifs and buts," Schröder told Bild.
As mentioned in today's Bundesliga gossip, Gbamin dreams of a move to England and has said that he still hopes for a transfer this summer.
"My contract runs until 2022, but I don't know what will happen tomorrow. Maybe there is a great offer that you can't turn down, and the situation will be very different," he told Kicker.
However, Schröder says he has already turned one offer for Gbamin from England down as he is adamant to hold on to the defensive midfielder.
"There may be more offers in the next few days, but we are not willing to negotiate, and that's what I will tell Jean-Philippe's management," Schröder told Bild.
Gbamin, 22, has been linked with a move to Arsenal. His contract with Mainz runs until 2022.
