Confirmed: Schalke take 20-year-old right-back Kilian Ludewig on loan

Schalke 04 have bolstered their defence with the signing of Kilian Ludewig from RB Salzburg.

The German defender, who has been on loan at English Championship side Barsley since January 2019, has joined Schalke on loan until the end of the season.

"Kilian Ludewig is a young, dynamic right-back who’s had an excellent footballing education. Above all, he has great desire to play for Schalke 04 and in the Bundesliga – that's exactly the mentality we need in this situation," said Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider.

"I know [Schalke coach] Manuel Baum from Germany U20s and I'm pleased that I can work with him again," said Ludewig.

"I want to perform well and help the team be successful again as quickly as possible. I'm really happy about the move and I can’t wait for my first game in a Schalke shirt," he added.
