Here are 10 players you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga Team for matchday 7.
In this fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the obvious premium options such as Erling Haaland or Robert Lewandowski.
Frederik Rønnow, FC Schalke 04 (Goalkeeper, 2m)
It should once again be the Danish international's turn after Ralf Fährmann got the go in the midweek Pokal fixture. After raising his profile last season filling in for Kevin Trapp at Frankfurt, the Königsblauen brought the 28-year-old specifically for the purpose of being their new #1. Rønnow has performed quite well in four consecutive league starts, earning team-of-the week honors in round four. Infused with confidence after their first team victory since February, Schalke stand a good chance of beating fellow bottom dwellers FSV Mainz 05 this weekend. It might prove a low-scoring affair, giving the Dane a chance to earn a clean-sheet.
Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, FC Augsburg (Defender, 4.8m)
The Augsburg diamond-box defensive set-up faces a stern test against Hertha BSC this weekend. Head coach Heiko Herrlich's "choke-off" constellation nevertheless remains well poised to frustrate the likes of Matheus Cunha in the coming fixture. All Bundesliga scouting departments now know that frustrating Cunha can constitute the key to victory. No fewer than four players will be tasked with this, but it should be the team captain charged with running the show. For those with a bit more money to spare, Gouweleeuw's center-back partner Felix Udoukhai--at 10m--is another good option.
Marvin Friedrich, 1. FC Union Berlin (Defender, 6.6m)
Union coach Urs Fischer deployed a 5-2-3 in his squad's 3-1 defeat of Hoffenheim last Monday. The arrangement accorded his two center-halves, Friedrich and Robin Knoche, much more assistance at the back. As a result, the pair were able to generate some useful central builds as well nice lateral swings out to the fullbacks. Early indications are that Fischer will retain this system. It should work well against a low-press team like Bielefeld. Interestingly enough, Fischer didn't even use his best fullbacks against the Kraichgauer. He may insert Niko Gießelmann and captain Christopher Trimmel for an even bigger punch on the rearward axes. This would be great news for Friedrich, who is already exhibiting improving form.
Matteo Klimowicz, VfB Stuttgart (Midfielder, 1.3m)
The son of Bundesliga legend Diego Klimowicz got his second start of the season last weekend and performed reasonably well on an attacking axis behind center forward Sasa Kalajdzic. It's quite difficult to forecast how trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo will build his attack against Frankfurt this week, but it's quite foreseeable that he will wish to stack the wings when facing Adi Hütter's 3-5-2. This means that Klimowicz, Silas Wamagituka, and Tanguy Coulibaly may all start in a top-heavy constellation. Anyone prepared to take a speculative pick should also give Coulibaly--at 1m--some consideration.
Joao Victor, VfL Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 6.9m)
An injury to Jerome Roussillon forces VfL trainer Oliver Glasner's hand. Second-choice left-back Paulo Otavio remains unavailable. With a shift to a back-three deemed too risky against a team like Hoffenheim, we project that the left-winger Victor will get the start in the defensive ranks. Glasner employed this strategy several times last season. As the recent case of Raphäel Guerreiro illustrates, natural attackers can have a big day on both sides of the ball whenever moved back. Victor will also maintain a great vertical partner in the returning (and very much in form) Josip Brekalo.
Ridle Baku, VfL Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 7.2m)
One of the Bundesliga's best current players is still a ridiculous bargain at his current listed market value. One might even argue that Germany's green company team underpaid for him when shelling out €10 million to Mainz to acquire him early in the season. Two consecutive team-of-the week selections did not occur by accident. The surging Baku rides a confident wave that has him bombing up the right flank and tricking his way past opposing players. There's simply no telling when or if he will cool off. With uncertainty continuing to permeate the Hoffenheim left, his form surge is likely to continue.
Vladimir Darida, Hertha BSC (Midfielder, 10.2m)
The man who set a new Bundesliga distance-covered record, then promptly proceeded to break his own record, late last season has been off to a more inconsistent start this year. Lately, however, it seems he's been benefitting slightly from a newly refined 4-2-3-1 that enables him to better work around Matheus Cunha's spontaneity. As noted above, the Augsburg defensive set-up will look to shut down most activity and an around the danger area. If Bruno Labbadia's men are to maintain any hope of picking the lock, the 30-year-old hustler will be the one to do it.
Lars Stindl, Borussia Mönchengladbach (Midfielder, 12.6m)
It would appear that Marco Rose is quite pleased with the form of his club captain. A 4-2-3-1 built around Stindl produced marvels in the recent UCL fixture. Were the schedule still a concern, Rose would most certainly drop Stindl and potentially use Breel Embolo as his anchor. It is not and Rose has no cause to tinker with what's working so well. Stindl at ten also affords the foals their best shot at countering Peter Bosz's 4-1-4-1. One might behold another big fixture for one of Germany's fan favorites in a fantastic Sunday evening fixture that will close out the round.
Josh Sargent, SV Werder Bremen (Striker, 8.5m)
At this juncture it remains uncertain as to whether Yuya Osako will be cleared to start alongside the young American. Either way, the 20-year-old should get another enormous opportunity to score a goal for the second consecutive week. While Sargent's prospects would definitely improve should he be deployed alone up front, the present form of Köln keeper Timo Horn leads one to the conjecture that Sargent may be gifted some mistakes on which to capitalize. Horn experiences a dip in confidence, not unlike that which he went through at a similar stage last season. Conditions may be ripe for Werder to repeat their lopsided victory over die Geißböcke from the 34th round of the 2019/20 campaign on Friday night.
Max Kruse, 1. FC Union Berlin (Striker, 11.6m)
A great goal and two assists in the previous rounds encounter mean that the 32-year-old officially heralded his return to the Bundesliga in a huge statement. Union's red-hot striking corps should give him even more opportunities to rack up scorer points this weekend. It almost doesn't matter if he lies in direct support of Taiwo Awonity, Joel Pohjanpalo, or Cedric Teuchert. Last week's performance demonstrates that he can work as a half-nine, false-nine, or even straight ten.
