Here are 10 players you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga Team for Matchday 9.
In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the most obvious picks such as Erling Haaland or Robert Lewandowski.
Instead, we will highlight players with an ownership percentage below 10%, who could offer great value as differentials for Matchday 8.
Iago, Augsburg (Defender, 5.1m)
After a strong start to the season, Iago and Augsburg have been quite inconsistent recently, but they now have a very appealing run of fixtures ahead. Last week's 1-1 draw with Gladbach saw Iago pick up seven points, taking his tally to 40 for the season, and with a price tag of just 5.1m, the 23-year-old looks like a solid pick for the weeks to come.
Oscar Wendt, Gladbach (Defender, 6.4m)
Coming off a crushing 4-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk, which saw Wendt convert a free-kick, Gladbach head into the weekend as huge favorites against struggling Schalke 04, who have spent this week dealing with disciplinary problems after a run of 24 Bundesliga games without a win. With Ramy Bensebaini still in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 last week, the Swedish veteran is set to keep his starting spot. Costing just 6.4m, Wendt is a cheap way into Gladbach's defence. Stefan Lainer, Gladbach (Defender, 10.4m) is a great option if you're willing to spend a little more.
Jerome Roussillon, Wolfsburg (Defender, 10.5m)
While more and more Fantasy Bundesliga managers are bringing in the bargain-priced Maxence Lacroix (Wolfsburg, 4.6m), Roussillon is a less popular pick due to his 10.5m price tag. But should you want to differentiate yourself from the pack, you might want to consider the left-back, who has previously shown he can be a valuable Fantasy asset, as a defensively sound and in-form Wolfsburg side look to take on Werder Bremen on Friday night.
Leandro Barreiro, Mainz (Midfielder, 4.7m)
After an abysmal start to their 2020/21 campaign, Mainz finally grabbed their first Bundesliga win of the season last week, beating Freiburg 3-1 thanks to a first-half hat-trick from Jean-Philippe Mateta. Barreiro's contribution to the win may have gone under the radar for some, but the 20-year-old had an excellent game in midfield and was the highest-scoring midfielder on Matchday 8, racking up 17 points. Jan-Moritz Lichte's team will now look to build on their win as they head into a favorable run of fixtures.
Daniel Caligiuri, Augsburg (Midfielder, 10.3m)
With some manageable fixtures ahead for Augsburg, Caligiuri could be a great differential in midfield. The 32-year-old has played a key role for 'Die Függerstädter' this season, racking up three goals and an assist in eight Bundesliga games following his summer move from Schalke 04. He was among the highest-scoring midfielders last week, spicking up 14 points after getting on the scoresheet against Gladbach, and is on set-piece duty for his club. Also capable of making a difference on his own, Ruben Vargas, Augsburg (Midfielder, 9.5m) is a solid alternative.
Josip Brekalo, Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 10.3m)
Brekalo didn't get on the scoresheet against Schalke last time around, but still managed to win 12 points, with half of them coming from attempts on goal. Wolfsburg are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga this season and have a couple of good fixtures coming up. Taking that into consideration along with the fact that Wolfsburg play on Friday this time around, the 22-year-old winger looks like a great pick for the next few weeks. Admir Mehmedi, Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 7.5m) offers a cheaper alternative.
Christoph Baumgartner, Hoffenheim (Midfielder, 10.6m)
One of the breakout stars of the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign, Baumgartner had a quiet start to this season, but it now looks like the 20-year-old is starting to pick up his speed,. Having scored 23 points in his last two games, Baumgartner is listed as a midfielder on the game, but actually plays as a striker, which certainly increases his value from a Fantasy perspective.
Jean-Philippe Mateta, Mainz (Striker, 11.3m)
Despite playing for a Mainz side that have struggled heavily this season, Mateta has still managed to find the net seven times in eight league appearances. Coming off a hat-trick and with favorable fixtures on the horizon, the 23-year-old striker may be worth a punt.
Matheus Cunha, Hertha BSC (Striker, 14.4m)
Owned by just dive percent of Fantasy Bundesliga managers, Cunha has been a reliable source of points this season and has managed to deliver no matter the opponent, having found the net against both Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund. Although Hertha don't have the easiest schedule, it seems you can't really go wrong with Cunha, who took his tally to 98 points with a brace last week, making him the fourth-highest scoring forward on the game.
Wout Weghorst, Wolfsburg (Striker, 15.5m)
Weghorst is expensive, but might just be worth his price tag with the form he is in as Wolfsburg's fixtures continue to appeal. The Dutch striker has picked up 45 points in his last four outings and will look to continue his fine form against Werder Bremen on Friday evening.
