Another loss for Schalke: Paciencia confirms knee operation

The fact that Schalke 04 striker Gonçalo Paciencia returned to his home country of Portugal recently has been known for over a week.

On Monday evening it was revealed that the on-loan attacker had undergone knee surgery and will be out for some time.
The Königsblauen of Gelsenkirchen find themselves quite literally back to square one in the attacking corps. One week after terminating the contract of summer acquisition Veddad Ibisevic, the forward they acquired on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt in August announced that he had just awoken from knee surgery via his twitter feed.

Twenty-six-year-old Portuguese international Gonçalo Paciencia report that he would be out "for some time" and apologized to his teammates for "leaving them during this difficult stretch." He also declared himself proud to be a member of the club and expressed a desire to suit up for Schalke again soon.

Paciencia made eight appearances for the last-place Knappen this season, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
