Fantasy Bundesliga: Must-haves and differentials for Matchday 10
Ahead of Matchday 10, we have highlighted a must-have player (M) and a differential pick (D) from each game that you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
Hertha BSC v. 1. FC Union Berlin:
M: Christopher Trimmel, Defender (FCU, 10M, 3%) - In a massive Berlin Derby, Union have a chance to really separate themselves from their bigger neighbors and really push for European competition. Union have been playing very well lately and the captain should lead them to victory again.
D: Dodi Lukébakio, Forward (BSC, 11.9M, 0%) - Lukébakio has started all but one game this year to go along with two goals and three assists. However, only one goal in his last eight games will certainly push him to impress in the Capital Match.
Sport-Club Freiburg v. Borussia M’gladbach:
M: Alassane Pléa, Forward (BMG, 15.8M, 1%) - Pléa has been outstanding in the Champions League so far, netting a brace midweek to bring his total to five goals and three assists in five games for UCL play. Having bagged an assist in league play last weekend, Pléa is on his most successful run of games in a row so far this season. His last league goal came back on Matchday 3 so the flood gates should be opening soon for Pléa.
D: Keven Schlotterbeck, Defender (SCF, 4.2M, 0%) - Schlotterbeck played the full 90 for the first time since February and seems to finally have gotten over the injury bug that has been plaguing him. A very cheap player at only 4.2M, we could be surprised at what he can bring after being out for so long.
Eintracht Frankfurt v. Borussia Dortmund:
M: Filip Kostić, Midfielder (SGE, 14.8M, 3%) - Since coming back from an injury, Kostić has yet to have his breakout game. Sending in 18 crosses in his last two games combined, an open match against Dortmund should fall into his favor. With Erling Haaland scheduled to miss the rest of the year as well, Dortmund will not be the same squad and Eintracht will need a win if they want to be serious about any European ambitions.
D: Thomas Delaney, Midfielder (BVB, 9M, 2%) - With the changes that are coming to the Dortmund lineup, Delaney will be a relatively cheap and differential starter that can get you in on any Dortmund action that happens. He has yet to register a goal or an assist this year but that has to end at some point with minutes he has been receiving.
1. FC Köln v. VfL Wolfsburg:
M: Wout Weghorst, Forward (WOB, 15.9M, 3%) - Playing outstanding football at the moment, Weghorst has scored six goals in his last six games. Against a struggling Köln side, Weghorst should have no problem continuing his scoring streak.
D: Marius Wolf, Midfielder (KOE, 3.8M, 0%) - Starting the last six games in a row, Wolf is feeling at home with his new club after leaving Dortmund. Grabbing his first assist of the season last week, Wolf is affordable and will only continue to get better with his new teammates.
DSC Arminia Bielefeld v. 1. FSV Mainz 05:
M: Jean-Philippe Mateta, Forward (M05, 11.5M, 1%) - A bit unlucky to not come away with a goal last week, Mateta continues to be a nuisance in every game. A battle of the relegation candidates, Mainz and Mateta have the firepower to create some separation from the bottom spots if they can win this game. It will be their best chance as their schedule starts to get more difficult.
D: Robin Quaison, Forward (M05, 10M, 0%) - With four goals already by this time last year, Quaison is having a sub-par start to the season by his standards. With the ever looming prospect of a transfer away, Quaison will need to seriously step up his game if he ever wants that to come to fruition. His best opportunity will come this weekend against Bielefeld.
FC Bayern München v. RB Leipzig:
M: Serge Gnabry, Forward (FCB, 17.9M, 18%) - This season may not be going the way that Gnabry would have wanted after how last season ended. He has now gone six games in a row in all competitions without a goal or an assist. In the most important game of the season so far to date, Gnabry has a great chance to end that drought. Coming in only as a 29 minute sub in the midweek Champions League match, Gnabry should be fit and ready to go in the top of the table clash.
D: Emil Forsberg, Forward (RBL, 11.4M, 2%) - In a star-studded game, Forsberg will be one of the few non-defenders that is a true differential that has a high probability to start and have some attacking returns. It is going to be a tough matchup for both teams either way but Forsberg does have the most experience on the Leipzig side.
SV Werder Bremen v. VfB Stuttgart:
M: Joshua Sargent, Forward (SVW, 8.8M, 2%) - After his sudden exclusion from the lineup last matchday, Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt expressed the importance Sargent plays in his Bremen side, saying the player’s absence “really hurt us”. If back in the lineup, Sargent will be looking to prove his manager’s words true.
D: Orel Mangala, Midfielder (VFB, 7.8M, 1%) - A stalwart of the Stuttgart midfield this season, Mangala has mainly proven himself on the defensive side of the ball. He does have one goal on the season and also has 15 points earned on the season on Goal Attempts.
FC Schalke 04 v. Bayer 04 Leverkusen:
M: Kerem Demirbay, Midfielder (B04, 12.6M, 1%) - Demirbay has mainly been deployed in the Europa League this year, playing amazingly, with a goal and an assist in three starts. As he gets more starts in league play, we should see a seamless transition. Against Schalke, Demirbay will have an easy time getting back to consistency.
D: Patrik Schick, Forward (B04, 13.8M, 0%) - Schick has started the last two games for Leverkusen, trying to replicate the form that Lucas Alario was showing before he went out with an injury. He does have a goal in the Europa League in that time but will hope to start showing his worth in league play.
TSG Hoffenheim v. FC Augsburg:
M: Christoph Baumgartner, Midfielder (TSG, 10.7M, 3%) - With 31 Fantasy points in his last three games, Baumgartner is starting to come around again and show the potential he was displaying last season. He has been pushing the Hoffenheim attack as well with 17 shots and seven crosses attempted in his last five starts in all competitions.
D: Ryan Sessegnon, Defender (TSG, 8.9M, 0%) - Starting the last four games in a row in all competitions for Hoffenheim, Sessegnon is really starting to find his footing in Germany. As he starts to get more comfortable with his teammates, his attacking abilities will start to shine and we will start to see more assists on the scoresheet.
