Fantasy Bundesliga: Must-haves and differentials for Matchday 19
Ahead of Matchday 19, we have highlighted a must-have player (M) and a differential pick (D) from each game that you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
VfB Stuttgart v. 1. FSV Mainz 05:
M: Silas Wamangituka, Forward (VFB, 9.3M, 5%) - Wamangituka has been in superb form lately, scoring thrice in three games on 7 shots. Consistently in the thick of things going forward, Stuttgart will be looking to change their fortune as they are winless in their last three after a very promising Hinrunde.
D: Danny Latza, Midfielder (M05, 6.5M, 0%) - Mainz showed some real grit and toughness to come back against Leipzig last week and grab all three points. Latza proved to be a promising sign for this newly run squad, sending in multiple crosses and was genuinely involved with the attack. With Brosinski out, all the set piece duty has fallen to Latza as well.
Borussia Dortmund v. FC Augsburg:
M: Erling Haaland, Forward (BVB, 19.4M, 50%) - Haaland has been a bit more streaky lately in regards to his goal scoring, netting only in two out of the last five games. A lot of that could be chalked up to coming back from injury. Haaland and Dortmund must dig deep this weekend to avoid any further drops in the table.
D: Florian Niederlechner, Forward (FCA, 10.3M, 1%) - After a great win against a strong Union side, Augsburg should smell blood in the water. Facing Dortmund in the midst of disaster couldn't come at a better time in the season. When healthy and playing, Niederlechner is indispensable to the Augsburg attack and can hopefully build off a strong previous week where he scored twice.
FC Bayern München v. TSG Hoffenheim:
M: Kingsley Coman, Forward (FCB, 14.9M, 3%) - After only playing 26 minutes last week against Schalke, Coman should be nice and rested for this possible shootout with Hoffenheim. Coman has certainly been the more prolific of the Bayern wingers this season. He has more assists, 10, than Gnabry and Sane combined, six, in all competitions.
D: Marco John, Midfielder (TSG, 1.2M, 0%) - The 18 year-old has found himself in the starting lineup the last four games in a row. Pretty remarkable considering he had only played two games up until then. While not the most flashy of players, he is usually good for a few shots and crosses in the matches he has played.
Eintracht Frankfurt v. Hertha BSC:
M: Filip Kostić, Midfielder (SGE, 16.8M, 5%) - Double digit Fantasy points in three out of the last four games, Kostić seems like a man on a mission as Eintracht are on the cusp of Europe. This past weekend we saw the Kostić that dominated Fantasy last year. With Luka Jović, one of Kostić’s favorite targets, back as well, Eintracht look like a rejuvenated and hungry squad.
D: Luka Jović, Forward (SGE, 15.1M, 1%) - Three goals in three games in only 76 minutes. Jović was born to play for Eintracht. It would be a risk to play him with his high price and almost guaranteed start on the bench, but the reward is potentially huge.
1. FC Union Berlin v. Borussia M’gladbach:
M: Jonas Hofmann, Midfielder (BMG, 13.2M, 6%) - In five games back since missing over a month of playing time with injury, Hofmann and Gladbach have not lost a game. In that time, Hofmann has played extremely well, scoring twice with three assists. Gladbach’s surge up the table looks to continue.
D: Alassane Pléa, Forward (BMG, 16.1M, 1%) - Barely owned, and rightfully so, Pléa was not able to capitalize in the onslaught last weekend and came away with nothing to show for. Gladbach, however, has been streaking and Pléa should reap some of the rewards eventually. He has yet to play a full 90 since coming back from injury but is getting closer to full health.
SV Werder Bremen v. FC Schalke 04:
M: Leonardo Bittencourt, Midfielder (SVW, 10.3M, 2%) - Bittencourt played his first full 90 since suffering an injury in late December. He brought a spark to the Bremen squad that had been thoroughly lacking. Schalke have still been very leaky in defense and Bittencourt loves to shoot from anywhere.
D: Felix Agu, Defender (SVW, 4.4M, 1%) - Two wins in their last three games and Bremen should be feeling positive about their future. One of the reasons why could be attributed to Agu. After making his first start three games ago, he has impressed with his performance on both sides of the ball.
RB Leipzig v. Bayer 04 Leverkusen:
M: Lucas Alario, Forward (B04, 11.5M, 1%) - Alario has started the last two games after missing a considerable amount of time. Before his absence, Alario was one of the league leaders in goals. He has taken six shots in the last two games and has been looking for his first goal since December 13th.
D: Alexander Sørloth, Forward (RBL, 13.9M, 0%) - Sørloth has been getting more minutes as well lately, starting two games in a row for the first time in his Leipzig career. If Leipzig want to keep any sort of pace with Bayern, however, they will need more goals out of Sørloth.
1. FC Köln v. DSC Arminia Bielefeld:
M: Ritsu Dōan, Midfielder (DSC, 9.5M, 6%) - Dōan is turning into one of the more dynamic players in all of the Bundesliga. With Dōan’s stellar play, Bielefeld are doing just enough to stay out of the relegation spots. Scoring double digit Fantasy points in three out of his last four games, with only one goal mind you, proves the value Dōan can bring.
D: Max Meyer, Midfielder (KOE, ?) - Here is to hoping they get him in before the deadline. He sorely needed the move away from Palace as he did not play very much at all in South London. If he is not added, a player like Marius Wolf or Ondrej Duda would suffice.
VfL Wolfsburg v. Sport-Club Freiburg:
M: Wout Weghorst, Forward (WOB, 18M, 4%) - Three goals in his last four games and 12 out of 18 games on the season, Weghorst has deservedly been drawing interest from abroad. Although his sporting director has denied any contacts, Weghorst will undoubtedly be keen to further impress any suitors.
D: Ermedin Demirović, Forward (SCF, 7.7M, 1%) - Demirović has been playing great football lately. In the last six games, he has three goals and four assists and it could be more. Freiburg will have their hands full with a strong Wolfsburg side but Freiburg is also coming off an impressive win at Stuttgart after going behind early.
