Nagelsmann reveals Neuer is expected to miss out against FC Köln

Manuel Neuer is unlikely to feature in Bayern München's upcoming clash with FC Köln while Kingsley Coman is certain to miss the game.
Bayern München coach Julian Nagelsmann has revealed he expects to be without Manuel Neuer for Sunday's Bundesliga game against FC Köln.

Neuer is currently sidelined due to a capsule injury in his right ankle, and Nagelsmann doesn't believe the 35-year-old will be fit in time for the game, with Sven Ulreich ready to start in the captain's place.

"Sven Ulreich is doing well. Manuel hasn't trained due to a capsule injury. It's nothing dramatic, but he needs to rest until the swelling is gone.

"As of now, I would say that he will not play. I can't say if he will play with 100 percent certainty two days before the game, but he wasn't involved in our important 11 versus 11 session today, and Sven did quite well."

In addition to Neuer, Bayern will have to manage without Kingsley Coman, who picked up an injury in the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

"Coman will not be available on Sunday. We'll have to see if he will make the squad for the cup game on Wednesday," said Nagelsmann with a reference to Bayern's DFB-Pokal first leg tie with Bremer SV in mid-week.
