Niclas Füllkrug has expressed his frustration with repeated questions about a possible return to the Germany national team after scoring twice in Werder Bremen's 2-2 draw with SC Paderborn.
"I would find it cool if the media started respecting me as well," the 33-year-old told DAZN. "If I've said 44 times that I don't want to talk about it, it would be cool if we stopped talking about it."
Füllkrug scored twice in the second half as Bremen recovered from a 2-0 deficit for the third consecutive match. His goals took his Bundesliga tally to six in six appearances, making him the most prolific German goalscorer across Europe's top 10 leagues.
The striker has also scored in five consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in his career, underlining his impressive form since returning to Bremen.
Thioune praises Füllkrug's influence
Werder coach Daniel Thioune was full of praise for his striker, highlighting not only his goalscoring ability but also his contribution behind the scenes.
"Niclas has been outstanding for weeks," Thioune said, adding that Füllkrug leads by example in the dressing room and consistently pushes himself and his teammates in training.
The forward has returned to Bremen for a third spell after disappointing stints abroad with West Ham United and AC Milan. His latest run of form has made him one of the Bundesliga's standout performers, even as he remains reluctant to discuss his international future.
