St Pauli promote Dahaba to senior team, Fischer may still arrive on loan

Newly promoted Bundesliga side FC St.Pauli confirmed a professional contract for homegrown defender Muhammad Dahaba on Tuesday evening. Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that the Kiezkicker may also be able to acquire VfL Wolfsburg fullback Kilian Fischer on loan.

On the same day that one of their homegrown talents left for England, 2023/24 2.Bundesliga champions confirmed a professional contract for one of their promising academy performers. Nineteen-year-old Muhammad Dahaba will be given a professional contract. The youngster has not yet made an appearance for the club's first team, but did feature under previous trainer Fabian Hürzeler in several test fixtures over the last winter break.

As the Kiezkicker prepare to finalize a deal with their new head-coach, it has been revealed that Hürzeler's coaching regime made contract with Wolfsburg about the prospect of acquiring German fullback Kilian Fischer on loan. The 23-year-old fell into disuse at Germany's green company team last season before VfL trainer Ralph Hasenhüttl awarded him five starts late in the campaign.

In a general article on VfL Wolfsburg transfer news, German journalist Thomas Hiete noted that a Fischer loan deal probably would have been finalized under Hürzeler. Fischer may still be on the move as he wasn't terribly convincing in his Hasenhüttl deployments and ostensibly wishes to secure playing time elsewhere. Dahaba's promotion still leaves the team in need of defensive assistance out wide.

"Muhammad has made very good use of the opportunity to show himself to the licensed team," St.Pauli sporting director Andreas Bornemann noted of the Dahaba promotion, "We are delighted that Muhammad wants to take the next steps in his development with us. We want to continue to offer our young players the opportunity to prove themselves."

"I am very happy about the trust FC St. Pauli has placed in me with this contract," Dahaba himself added, "especially because I have been playing here in the youth team for twelve years. I see this step as confirmation of my commitment and at the same time as an incentive to keep working hard on myself. I want to make the most of the opportunity to develop further in this team."
