Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Eugen Polanski is reportedly fighting to keep his job beyond the end of the season.

According to Bild, the 40-year-old will not necessarily remain in charge even if he keeps the club in the Bundesliga.

Internally, the report claims, it's believed that Polanski’s team lacks a genuine game plan – and Saturday’s underwhelming 2-2 home draw with bottom-placed 1. FC Heidenheim has done little to improve his case.

For the 40-year-old, it’s now about more than just avoiding relegation in the remainder of the campaign – he also needs to demonstrate a clear offensive philosophy if he wants to secure his future at the club.

Gladbach are currently five points above the relegation zone, sitting 13th in the Bundesliga table.

After a spell as interim coach, Polanski was given a permanent deal until 2028 back in November.
