Report: Rennes reject Bayern's €35 million opening bid for Doué

France's Le Parisien reports that Stade Rennes have rejected FC Bayern München's offer for young attacker Désiré Doué.

FC Bayern München's interest in 19-year-old midfielder Désiré Doué has apparently produced an initial €35 million offer to Stade Rennes from the German record champs. France's Le Parisien reports that the offer, which does include potential bonus payments, has been rejected by the Ligue 1 club. Whether or not the two sides will continue to negotiate remains to be seen.

Doué is currently preparing to represent his country in the French-hosted men's Olympic football tournament. Doué presently finds himself in training camp with new Bayern signing Michael Olise. There are conflicting reports as to whether the teenage talent himself wishes to join the Bavarians. Germany's Tageszeitung reporter Philipp Kessler of the Münchener Abendzeitung count as two sources claiming that Doué would like to move.

Much appears to depend on whether or not Bayern will be able to land Dutch phenom Xavi Simons from PSG. The 21-year-old who lit up the league with Leipzig last year has been strongly linked with a Bayern move, but may end up costing Bayern upwards up €80 million. Such a price tag would effectively cap the FCB's summer spending spree.

Assuming that Doué remains amenable to a move to the Bundesrepublik, other Bundesliga sides could potentially be interested. Doué has been linked with both current league champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund in the past. In 57 Ligue 1 games for Stade Rennes to date, Doué has netted seven goals and registered six assists.
