Recent reports have suggested that Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou is attracting interest from the English Premier League, with Crystal Palace and Newcastle United named as possible destinations.
Kicker even reported on Wednesday that Leverkusen have received an offer of €45 million for Kossounou from an English club.
Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes has now commented on the speculation in an interview with Sport.de, admitting that it's uncertain whether Kossounou will stay.
"I can't say," replied the 42-year-old when asked if Kossounou could leave before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
"In principle, he's a player in our plans. But of course it's possible that we could make one or two changes to the squad," Rolfes added.
Rolfes is aware that the final days of the transfer window are always hectic and that this can have an effect on the players.
"They might think, 'OK, how much playing time can I get, what are my chances? And then sometimes they get the idea or the thought of moving on."
