With six months remaining on his contract with Bayern München, Joshua Kimmich's future at the club remains up in the air.

However, speaking after Bayern's 1-0 win over Gladbach on Saturday, he revealed that with Vincent Kompany now at the helm, there is a much bigger chance of him extending his contract than there was last season when Thomas Tuchel was in charge.

"The likelihood of me staying is much greater than it was in the summer because I can see how we are playing football. That also has a lot to do with the coach," Kimmich told Sky Germany.

"All of Germany can see that we are playing football in a different way. It looks much better. It's fun in training and on the pitch.

“Of course there are many, many good reasons to extend the contract. For me, it's a fundamental decision. It's about where you can be most successful in the next three to four years.”

Kimmich's decision will also be influenced by whether Jamal Musiala, under contract until 2026, and Alphonso Davies, under contract until 2025, decide to sign extensions.

“It's definitely a factor for all of us what the team will look like in the coming years. What one or the other does plays a role.”
