FC Schalke 04 talent Vitalie Becker is expected to remain with the newly promoted Bundesliga club for the long-term.
According to information obtained by WAZ, both sides have reached an agreement on extending his contract.
Originally set to expire in summer of next year, Schalke have apparently avoided the bitter of losing the 21-year-old on a free transfer.
Serie A side Lazio, among others, initially saw Becker as a bargain, but now a sale during this transfer window is off the table.
The left-back will instead enter the season as Robin Gosens' challenger for the starting position, with the latter currently injured.
Becker recently said about his future at the Gelsenkirchen outfit: “I feel comfortable at Schalke. I never said I wanted to leave.
“I still have a contract. I'm fully focused on Schalke and the current pre-season training,” he concluded.
