Moussa Sylla is out of Schalke’s squad for this afternoon’s game against Kaiserslautern as he is closing in on a move to New York City. According to Sky, the two clubs reached total agreement for a permanent transfer of the 26-year-old striker.

The reported transfer fee could reach €7 million with bonuses. Pau FC will receive a significant amount as per the agreement when the French-born player joined Schalke from Ligue 2 for €2.5 million at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Including four this term, the Malian international scored 20 goals in 47 appearances. He was close to leaving the club in the summer, and Schalke were already prepared for it with a surprise transfer of Edin Džeko earlier this week. Christian Gomis starts today’s game up front, while the Bosnian striker will be expected to make his debut off the bench.
