Zentner suffers another injury blow as Schwolow set to start for Mainz at Gladbach

Mainz 05’s long-serving shot-stopper Robin Zentner will be out for the coming weeks with a hand injury. The 31-year-old goalkeeper was also restricted to only 10 league appearances last term due to an adductor injury.
Mainz started the season with Zentner in goal against Padberborn before new signing Alexander Schwolow had to deputize for him on matchday two. The goalkeeper who joined the club in 2014 returned over the past weekend after recovering from thigh problems.
However, he’ll now be out once again as he suffered an unspecified hand injury in the 3-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Schwolow will play against Borussia Mönchengladbach next Saturday, but the 34-year-old could lose his place by the next game since there will be an extended international break after this weekend.
The Bundesliga veteran is yet to make his home debut for Mainz. Daniel Batz filled the gap impressively in Zentner’s absence last campaign. The veteran has joined Gladbach in the summer as a free agent to deputize for Moritz Nicolas.
Schwolow has kept a clean sheet in his Mainz debut with their surprising 5-0 victory over HSV. The former Germany youth international has played over 200 Bundesliga games for five clubs.
