Arne Engels is on the move once again as West Ham United are in the final stages of signing him for over €25 million from Celtic. The Belgian midfielder left Augsburg a couple of years ago for €13 million (according to Transfermarkt).
The Fuggerstädter will now add a few million as the 22-year-old is set to leave the Scottish champions after 100 appearances in all competitions. According to Sky Sports, Augsburg will earn €2.6 million as they agreed on a 10% sell-on clause with Celtic.
However, Kicker reported earlier that their resale clause was 20%. Engels will now complete his medical check before signing with the relegated Premier League club. He will receive a contract until 2031 at his new club.
Engels scored three goals in 51 Bundesliga appearances for Augsburg. The Bavarians are having a relatively quiet transfer window as they rejected multiple offers for Chrislain Matsima and Mert Kömür from Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Hull City, respectively.
