20-year-old centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has joined 1. FC Köln on a six-month loan from Manchester City.
According to reports, the deal includes both a purchase option for the Billy Goats and a buy-back clause for Manchester City.
“The move to Köln is a fresh start for me, and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Simpson-Pusey, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Celtic.
“When I looked into the club and its history, I immediately wanted to get started. Now I’m excited to meet my teammates – and ‘Hennes’ (1. FC Köln’s mascot, editor's note) when we’re back in Köln. I want to play as many games as possible here and help FC achieve its goals this season.”
FC Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler added:
“Jahmai is a talented player who, despite his young age, has already gained experience at a high level. He was trained at an international top club, is strong on the ball, and confident in possession.
"With his signing, we are expanding our options in central defense and creating the necessary squad depth. Additionally, Jahmai brings a high level of motivation and a strong ambition, which will positively influence the internal competition.”
