Having been linked with Olympique Lyon's Rayan Cherki for some time, it now appears that Borussia Dortmund are stepping up their interest in the attacking midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Cherki is keen to make the move happen and has reached a verbal agreement with Olympique Lyon to leave the club for around €22.5 million.

Negotiations for the transfer are now underway, with new Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac having given the go-ahead, according to Sky Germany.

Cherki could arrive as a replacement for Donyell Malen, who Dortmund sold to Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window.

The 21-year-old has made 25 appearances for Lyon this season, scoring five goals and providing eight assists.
