Dynamo Dresden continued their survival push with a spectacular win over Darmstadt. The Saxony club stunned the promotion hopefuls in the final minutes of first-half. Patric Pfeiffer’s sending off was followed by two quickfire goals by Vincent Vermeij.
Darmstadt’s center-back was penalized for a foul on Ben Bobzien as a last defender with only three minutes left of a rather uneventful half. However, Vermeij’s first goals since the turn of the year had the hosts two goals in front at the break.
Referee Lars Erbst issued the second red card of the game early after the restart. Jakob Lemmer was booked twice in the space of a minute as Dresden’s man advantage disappeared inside the first ten minutes of the second-half.
Thomas Stamm’s team still managed to extend their lead ten minutes from time with Christoph Daferner’s sixth goal of the season. Yosuke Furukawa scored his first 2. Bundesliga goal in the 90th minute, but it was far too late for Darmstadt to take something from the game.
Darmstadt saw their 13-game unbeaten run come to an end in the middle of an ever-changing promotion race, while Dresden momentarily climbed to 13th after their first win since matchday 19.
