Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can was understandably disappointed after his team squandered a 2-0 first-leg lead in their Champions League playoff against Atalanta on Wednesday, crashing out following a 4-1 defeat in Bergamo.

Can highlighted individual errors as a major factor in the loss, without calling out any teammates directly.

“If you concede four goals in the playoffs, it becomes very difficult to progress,” the BVB captain said in a post-match interview.

“No blame on any individual player, but when you make so many individual mistakes, it’s hard,” Can added.

As Can noted, there’s no time to dwell on the setback, with ‘Der Klassiker’ against Bayern Munich coming up on Saturday.

“It hurts a lot, but tomorrow we have to look forward again and focus on Saturday,” stressed the captain.
