After Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 0-0 draw with SC Freiburg at the weekend, interim coach Eugen Polanski confirmed that he had been told he could remain in charge.

“I’m receiving very good support from everyone from the management, the coaching staff, and the team. I’ve also already received the signal that I can continue for now,” he said.

According to Sport Bild, Gladbach have set a new timeframe for how long Polanski will remain in charge at the very least.

The report claims that he will definitely oversee at least the next three Bundesliga games, against Union Berlin, Bayern Munich and 1. FC Köln, as well as the DFB-Pokal fixture against Karlsruhe.

Depending on the results of those matches and the decision of the eventual successor to head of sport Roland Virkus, Polanski could be appointed as permanent head coach.
