After a spell with Belgian side KAA Gent, Jordan Torunarigha could be set for a return to Germany when his contract expires this summer.

According to Bild, Hamburger SV are currently leading the race to sign the 27-year-old central defender.

Fellow promoted Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln are also reportedly interested, but HSV may hold the upper hand.

Sporting director Stefan Kuntz knows Torunarigha well from his time as Germany’s U21 national team coach, giving the Hamburg club an advantage in negotiations.

Torunarigha played for Hertha BSC until 2022, when he made the move to Belgium. He made 41 appearances for Gent in the past season.
