Frankfurter Rundschau has positively confirmed that Jonathan Burkardt rejoined team training for Eintracht Frankfurt today.

The striker – who picked up a nasty injury during the Hessen club's 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in late November – has finally made his return.

Although the 25-year-old was absent from their 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend, it was due to a head cold.

Now, the former Mainz marksman has made a full recovery and is crucially expected to be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Bayern Munich.

If Burkardt can make it, his presence would come as a big boost to Albert Riera's squad given their recent spate of attacking injuries.

Winter signing Younes Ebnoutalib has been unavailable since mid-January, while Arnaud Kalimuendo is also a doubt for this weekend.

Meanwhile, further bad news has emerged regarding Rasmus Kristensen who could need surgery on an affected ankle ligament.
