Hansi Flick announced as new Barcelona coach

Former Bayern and Germany coach Hansi Flick has been officially unveiled as the new head coach of FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona have confirmed Hansi Flick as their new head coach.

The former Bayern Munich and Germany boss has signed a contract with the La Liga giants that runs until the summer of 2026, replacing Xavi Hernandez.

“By bringing Hansi Flick as coach, FC Barcelona have chosen a man well known for his teams’ high pressing, intense and daring style of play which has brought him great success at club level and international level, winning pretty much all there is to win in the world of football,” FC Barcelona said in a statement.

Flick enjoyed a highly successful spell as Bayern Munich coach from November 2019 until the summer of 2021, winning the Bundesliga twice, the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League.

In the summer of 2021, Flick moved to the position of Germany coach. He was sacked from that role in September 2023.

Flick also spent eight years as Germany assistant coach, winning the 2014 World Cup.
