Hofmann on Leverkusen's likely Bundesliga title win: "Maybe a few tears will fall"
Jonas Hofmann played a key role in Bayer Leverkusen's 2-0 Europa League quarter-final win over West Ham on Thursday, scoring and assisting after coming off the bench in the second half.
With the first leg against West Ham out of the way, Leverkusen can now focus on Sunday's home game against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, where the club can secure their first ever Bundesliga title with a win.
Their fans, of course, are well aware of this and made it known during Thursday's game at the sold-out BayArena, chanting that the club will finally be German champions this year.
Speaking to RTL after the game, Hofmann said the singing gave him " goosebumps" and went on to reflect on the huge possibility of lifting the Bundesliga trophy for the first time.
“We know what can happen on Sunday and that we can make history,” Hofmann said.
“It means everything to be able to hold up the shield at the end of the season. It's a moment where maybe a few tears will fall. You might get overwhelmed, but you just need to let your emotions flow," he added.
