Holstein Kiel have confirmed the signing of US international John Tolkin from New York Red Bulls for a reported fee of around €3 million - a new club record.

"In John Tolkin we have found an experienced player for our left flank, despite his age," said Carsten Wehlmann, managing director for sport.

“With his qualities, he fits our profile perfectly. We are convinced that he will settle in quickly and integrate into the team.”

Tolkin, a 22-year-old left-back, commented:

“The Bundesliga is one of the top leagues and will be a great challenge for me, which I'm really looking forward to.

"My goal is to settle in here as quickly as possible and get to know my team so that I can play my part in a successful second half of the season.”
