RB Leipzig has loaned Joyeux Masanka Bungi to Red Bull New York for the remainder of the current season until June 30, 2026.

The 19-year-old left-back is expected to gain valuable playing experience in MLS and take the next step in his professional football career.

Masanka Bungi moved from KRC Genk's U-18 setup on a free transfer to RB Leipzig's U-17 academy side at the beginning of 2023.

In 56 appearances for the Saxony-based side's Bundesliga youth team, he chipped in with 10 goals and provided a further 8 assists.

In February 2025, he earned his professional contract and last December, he finally made the first-team squad against 1.FC Union Berlin.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Joyeux to mature both as a player and as a person at a high level in a new league.

"In New York, he'll get the chance to gain more professional experience . We believe a loan to MLS can accelerate his development, and we see his future in Leipzig.

“We wish Joyeux and the Red Bulls every success in the coming months,” said Leipzig's managing director of sport Marcel Schäfer.
