Mats Hummels' search for a new employer has finally come to an end, with the 35-year-old moving to Italy.

AS Roma confirmed the signing of the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund defender on a one-year deal on Wednesday evening.

The contract reportedly includes a clause for a one-year extension if Hummels makes a certain number of appearances.

Hummels, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, has been linked with a number of clubs over the summer, including Bologna, Mallorca, AC Milan and Real Sociedad.

He has made 508 competitive appearances for Dortmund and 118 for Bayern Munich.

Hummels has won the Bundesliga six times and the DFB-Pokal three times. Now, in the autumn of his career, he is moving outside the Bundesliga for the first time.
