Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has refused to rule out the possibility of Harry Kane returning from injury before the winter break.

“Things are looking good," said Kompany at a press conference on Friday.

"I don't want to give a timeline and put our medical team under pressure. It could well be that he plays again this year. But everything needs to go perfectly.”

Kane suffered a minor muscle injury in last week's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund and missed Bayern's 0-1 DFB-Pokal defeat against Bayer Leverkusen as a result.

He resumed running training on Thursday and completed a 20-minute individual session on Friday.

According to Bild, the striker will definitely miss Saturday's match against Heidenheim and Tuesday's Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk, but a return to action against Mainz next week is possible if all goes well.
