After representing the United States at youth level, FC Augsburg centre-back and dual national Noahkai Banks has recently left a door open to possibly switching allegiance to Germany at senior level.

The 19-year-old appears to have a real chance of making the U.S. squad for the World Cup if he chooses to play for Mauricio Pochettino's side, but he underlines that he doesn’t want the tournament to pressure him into a hasty decision.

“I know there’s a World Cup coming up. I don’t want to set myself a deadline; I’m taking my time and will decide calmly,” Banks told Kicker.

“I have a long career ahead of me, so I don’t want to base it on a single tournament.”

According to Kicker, Augsburg would prefer to see Banks represent the United States at the World Cup, as it could increase his market value.

This season, the 19-year-old has established himself as a regular at the back for Augsburg, featuring 20 times.
