With the contract of David Raum only running until 2027, there is naturally a lot of uncertainty regarding his future at RB Leipzig.
As it stands, whether their paths either diverge in winter or next summer, or even a possible contract extension, is all likely.
Sporting director Marcel Schäfer announced talks with the player's agent recently, but Kicker understands that no progress has been made.
Furthermore, the sports magazine raises the question of whether RB Leipzig can "afford" to retain the 28-year-old's services.
Raum moved from TSG Hoffenheim to Leipzig in 2022 for €26million and was given a top-tier contract at the time.
Said deal no longer reflects the current salary structure, so therefore it should become clear in negotiations if an agreement is feasible.
Meanwhile, the Saxony-based outfit already has a potential replacement for Raum within their own ranks in Max Finkgräfe.
Leipzig's chiefs are reportedly pleased with his development since was signed from 1.FC Köln last year for a fee of €4million.
According to Transfermarkt.com, all three of Manchester United, Juventus and Bournemouth showed kept tabs on Raum in recent weeks.
