A summer transfer could be on the cards for SV Werder Bremen goalkeeper Mio Backhaus, with several clubs said to be circling the 22-year-old.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are the latest club to be linked with Backhaus, with Sky Germany reporting that Die Werkself have joined the race for his signature.

Die Werkself's current No. 1, Mark Flekken, has faced significant criticism for his performances in his first season at the club.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Inter, AC Milan, SC Freiburg and Newcastle United have also been mentioned as suitors for Backhaus.

According to Sky, Werder are open to talks should a club wish to move into concrete negotiations.
