MSV Duisburg announce Hagen Schmidt as head coach

Hagen Schmidt takes the reins at MSV.
MSV Duisburg announced today that Hagen Schmidt will be their new head coach.

Following the dismissal of Pavel Dotchev, many wondered who would be next to try and turn the club's fortunes around.

MSV Sporting director, Ivica Grlić said that Schmidt is "determined in his speech, has a clear game idea, is self-confident, and strong."

The 51-year-old coach was formally in the Borussia Mönchengladbach academy system, coaching their U17s. He was also in interim charge of VfL Wolfsburg for one month during 2016.

It's uncertain times for fans of Duisburg. The club and Schmidt will be hoping to get off to a good start when they host FC Kaiserslautern in their next league game on the 25th October.
