Svensson gives FSV pros five days off: "Getting off the hamster wheel."
FSV Mainz 05 only played one test match during the September and October international breaks.
This time, after a brief scrimmage with the U23s, trainer Bo Svensson has declared an extended break for his players.

"We're in a different phase of the season," Svensson said when explaining the decision on Tuesday, "A lot of injuries happen in November. These occur not only because of physical stress, but also mental."
"When you've been on the hamster wheel of playing and training for a few months, the body automatically checks out," he continued, "The days off should serve to get the guys back here with full enthusiasm."
Mainz will resume prep training for 1. FC Köln next Tuesday. With six fixtures left in the "Hin-runde", a favorable schedule could see Mainz even higher than their current position of Seventh in the table. Top-five is certainly not out of the question. Matches against Stuttgart, Hertha, and Frankfurt could easily translate to nine more points.
Svensson noted that he wanted everyone's "head-clear" for the conclusion of the season's first half.
