After rumors about Markus Weinzierl possibly taking the reins in Kraichgau were quickly quashed earlier in the day, speculation continues as to who will lead on the Sinsheimer sidelines next season. One German journalist floats the name of recently released ÖFB trainer Franco Foda, who has been heavily touted by many in German footballing circles for his first top-flight job.

The 56-year-old Mainz native ran Austria's national football team for four years between 2018 and 2022. Although Foda managed to lead the "Burschen" to their first-ever knockout phase in a European Championship last summer, the failure to qualify for the coming World Cup led to his resignation in March. German footballing legend Ralf Rangnick eventually assumed control of the ÖFB XI.

Foda's only experience coaching in German football came via an ill-fated stint with 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Foda was charged with getting the Pfälzer Red Devils back to the top flight following their 2011/12 relegation. The former Lautern player led the club to the promotion-relegation playoffs in 2012/13, but missed out on promotion after dropping both playoff legs to (of all teams) Hoffenheim.
