Reports: Udinese pursue Köln's Ehizibue

Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio reports that Köln fullback Kingsley Ehizibue may be on the move to Udinese Calcio. Köln's "Geißblog" nevertheless says that a possible transfer remains in the nascent stages.
Gianluca di Marzio claims that 1. FC Köln have found a new destination for their often inconsistent right-back Kingsley Ehizibue. The Italian transfer expert reports that the 27-year-old is due at Udinese Monday for a medical and that his German club are prepared to collect €1.5 million on an agreed-upon transfer.

Despite all of those specifics, Köln's highly respected "Geißblog" rolls back the rumor. The local source concedes that Ehizibue was absent from the matchday squad against Frankfurt on Sunday for "sporting reasons", but that there is no agreed upon transfer and the two clubs have only just initiated contact.

Ehizibue has often been linked with a move to the Serie A and a transfer would make sense. Current Effzeh trainer Steffen Baumgart has sometimes selected the former PEC Zwolle defender for his starting XI, but may be tiring of performances like last weekend; during which the player can't seem to avoid committing errors.

Baumgart has both his regular starter Benno Schmitz and Kingsley Schindler to rely upon for the right-back role. It does still remain possible that he will wish to keep Ehizibue around for his notable pace in the event the starting lineup needs a speedster up the right. If the Geißblog is to be believed, negotiations could drag on closer to the transfer deadline on August 31st.
