Report: Brooks looking to land with Benfica
After the collapse of his move to Mallorca, U.S. journalist Tom Boggert claims that Bundesliga veteran John Anthony Brooks is set to join Julian Draxler at Benfica.
he next club lined up for Berlin native and USMNT veteran John Anthony Brooks after his move to Mallorca fell through is reportedly Benfica. This is according to American journalist Tom Baggert. No confirmation of the deal took place after the close of business on Tuesday, but this was also not necessary as Brooks can join a new club whenever he pleases as a free-agent.
With the vast majority of administrative muscle at the Portuguese club likely tied up in the Julian Weigl outgoing and Julian Draxler incoming loans over the course of the day, it's entirely possible that Brooks' medical and final contract negotiations have been placed on tomorrow's docket.
Update, per source: John Brooks to Mallorca is OFF. After a verbal agreement and coming to Spain for a medical, Brooks has pulled out of the agreement.
