A rumor first popping up yesterday was quickly confirmed on Saturday afternoon. While German football still awaits the introduction of VfB Stuttgart's new head-coach, the club at least has a new sporting director in place. SC Paderborn 07's Fabian Wohlgemuth will take the place of the departed Sven Mislintat in the VfB front office.

"Fabian Wohlgemuth fits our profile perfectly. He recently proved at Paderborn that, even with limited resources, he can assemble a valuable squad that plays attacking and passionate football," Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle noted in a statement posted on the club's website, "This appointment shall provide both a new impetus and affirm our current path forward."

"VfB has set traditionally set standards in German football," Wohlgemuth himself added in his own statement, It is a vibrant club with a great fan culture, an exciting team and incredible potential. The discussions with Alexander Wehrle and other VfB managers have convinced me that they think and act in the same way. I'm eager to work together with everyone at VfB on a successful future."

Paderborn released a brief statement saying that they had been "adequately compensated" for their departed sporting director. Germany's Kicker magazine reports that the East Westphalians will receive a sum in the low six-figure-range. Kicker journalist Frederik Paulus also maintains that Bruno Labbadia should be introduced as the squad's new trainer soon, potentially this weekend.
