Official: Wolfsburg unveil Jenz

Germany's green company team wasted no time in confirming a fairly significant signing on Friday afternoon. Berlin-born center back Moritz "Mercedes" Jenz may need a new nickname next year as he will don the colors of Volkswagen's top-tier football club.
Shortly after rumors began to surface on Friday afternoon, Moritz "Mercedes" Jenz was officially unveiled as a VfL Wolfsburg player. The 24-year-old central defender joins Germany's green company team on a transfer from FC Lorient. At present, there is no further corroboration of Sky's earlier report that Jenz cost the northern "Autostädter" between €7 and €10 million.

"Moritz is a robust and strong defender," VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz noted in a statement accompanying the signing, "He has six Champions' League deployments with Celtic Glasgow and is also characterized by tremendous pace and a secure passing game. Despite his young age, he has already been through a few clubs and also already has international experience. We are convinced that he can take the next step in his career with us and will be an important addition to our squad."

"I am very much looking forward to this new challenge," the player himself added," VfL Wolfsburg is a very ambitious club that wants to play internationally. For me, it's the perfect environment to develop further. I'm a player who is heart and passionate on the pitch and gives everything for his team and colors."
